PARIS — First Congregational Church in South Paris is opening its doors for the Advent and Christmas season.
“Our church is always open and welcoming to our friends and neighbors, but during this time of year we want to offer a special invitation to the community to join us,” said Rev. Don Mayberry, pastor at the church. “Many people feel the spiritual draw of the season and we want to be sure to make it known that visitors are always welcome.”
Sunday services are at 10 a.m. “Our services are upbeat and positive with a choir of about 22 members and with sermons that are rooted in the Christian tradition that strive to be related to everyday life application,” said Mayberry.
Also during the Advent season families from the church are taking turns each week lighting the candles of Love, Peace, Joy and Hope. The church is decorated for the Christmas season.
Special Christmas Eve services will be held at 7 and 11:30 p.m. and both are candlelight services with the singing of the traditional carols. “While the church services are well attended there is always plenty of room for visitors,” said Mayberry.
First Congregational Church is at 17 East Main St. and the church is handicap accessible. Check them out online at www.southpariscongregational.com and on Facebook.
