Fishing lessons offered by Trout Unlimited

BETHEL — The Mollyockett Chapter of Trout Unlimited will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at the Gould Academy Field House.

Bob Van Riper, Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife regional fisheries biologist, will discuss the status of the fishery, the management plan, and problems and issues associated with the Rangeley region.

Three workshops are planned:

• Introduction to Fly Fishing by Rik Dow, covering fly fishing basics, including essential gear and basic tactics on how to fly fish in moving or still water;

• Fly casting by Tony Frangipane, master Maine guide and certified casting instructor;

• Stream Entomology by master Maine guide John Wight, covering bug basics and matching the hatch in local rivers; and

• Fly casting 101 led by Trout Unlimited chapter members covering the fundamentals.

The presentations are free and open to all.
