SACO — Frances Rita (Millette) Poirier, 95, of Louden Road, died on Friday, Nov. 17.
She was born in Biddeford, Maine, on Nov. 6, 1922, daughter of Edmond and Alice (Menard) Millette and the oldest of 10 children. She graduated in 1941 from St. Joseph’s High School in Biddeford. After graduation, she worked as a cashier for Youland’s Department Store. In 1943, she worked as a teller at Biddeford Savings Bank, until her marriage.
Frances and Pfc. Paul O. Poirier were married May 14, 1945, at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford. They resided in Brooklyn, N.Y., until the end of World War II. While there, Frances worked at a bank in Brooklyn. They moved to Saco, Maine, where they raised their seven children. She was a member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church Good Shepherd Parish.
Frances is survived by her children, Paul G. Poirier, Guy E. Poirier and his wife Dianna, all of Saco, Marc R. Poirier and his wife Peggy of Lewiston, Suzanne F. Thibeau of Phoenix, Ariz., Peter A. Poirier of Fairhope, Ala., Denise M. Lachance and her husband Tom of Saco and Gisele A. Poirier of Hollis. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Brother Roger (Andre Millette) of the Brothers of Christian Instruction in Alfred, Maine, Suzanne J. Fredette of Old Orchard Beach, John C. Millette and his wife Barbara of Houston, Texas and Marguerite Ruel of Biddeford, and her two sisters-in-law; Jeannine Millette and Paulette Millette
Frances was predeceased by her husband on July 12, 2004; three brothers, Richard, Roger and Jacques and two sisters, Myrto Barra and Alice Michaud.
