LEWISTON — Francois Joseph Labonte, 94, of 4 Bradford St., Lewiston, died Friday, Oct. 24, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
Born on Aug. 28, 1920, he was a son of Arthur and Henriette Forgues Labonte. He served in the U.S. Navy as a 2nd class seaman. On Oct. 19, 1940, he married his soul mate, Gertrude Cote.
He worked at Northern Utilities Gas Co. for over 30 years, retiring in 1980. He spent 25 years enjoying winters in St. Petersburg, Fla. He enjoyed family and playing cards, and was a lifelong Red Sox fan.
Survivors include his daughter, Pauline Bureau and her husband, Ronald, of Lewiston; brother, Richard, of Auburn; sister-in-law, Lena Labonte, of Lewiston; four grandchildren, Gail Miller of Wales, Tony Letourneau and his wife, Katie, of Hebron, Karen Plourde and her husband, Michael, of Turner and Lisa Bureau of Lewiston; five great-grandchildren, Kyle Miller, Kasey Miller, Megan Plourde, Derek Plourde and Cameron Letourneau; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 69 years, Gertrude; daughter, Jeannette Letourneau; brothers, Wilfred and Father Youville; and his sister, Yolande Deschenes.
