Franklin County to offer baby-sitting training course

FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Children’s Task Force will host a baby sitter lesson and safety training class from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at 113 Church St.

The interactive program will provide training in baby-sitter basics like feeding, burping and diapering, as well as first aid for emergency response, including CPR. The program prepares children to interview for a baby-sitting job, select safe and suitable games and activities for kids, prevent accidents and begin baby-sitting successfully.

All participants will become CPR and automated external defibrillator-certified by the American Heart Association. Attendees will leave with a certificate of completion, a full-color book to use as a quick reference guide while baby-sitting and tools to help them organize their efforts.

The training is open to Franklin County residents age 13 and older, and the cost is $55. Limited scholarships are available.

Those interested in the course should call Stacie at 207-778-6960, or email [email protected] to register or ask questions.

The last day to register is Wednesday, Aug. 12. Payment, via cash or check, will be collected at the start of class Friday, Aug. 14.
