WILTON — Police charged six juveniles early Monday morning with underage drinking, Sgt. Richard Billian Jr. said in a release Monday.
Officers responded at about 1 a.m. to McGrath Road, located off Weld Road, after discovering an abandoned vehicle in the roadway. After locating the owner at a nearby camp, empty alcohol containers were observed inside, Billian said. Further investigation led police to the six juveniles who were charged with illegal possession by consumption of alcohol.
Three of the juveniles were from Jay, two from Livermore Falls and one from Connecticut. They were released to their parents' custody.
The underage drinking detail was funded by a grant.
