WELD — The Webb Lake Association will sponsor a program titled “If I Couldn't Sit Under a Tree Next to Webb Lake What Would I Do?” at 7 p.m. Friday at the Town Hall.

Rich Churchill of Newry, a former associate editor of “People Places and Plants” gardening magazine, will look at the choices he has made concerning how to transition from a full-time academic to an individual wanting to maximize his experiences. He spent many years in college-level teaching and horticultural/arboricultural consulting.

Until recently, he worked with the gardening magazine based in New Gloucester since it's first issue 14 years ago. He has amassed a broad range of experiences to share with the gardening public. Currently, he is an adjunct faculty member of The Landscape Institute of The Boston Architectural College.

Along with his gardening expertise, Churchill speaks on a variety of subjects including bike touring. He has biked 35,000 miles in the past 10 years and often integrates these trips into his presentations. His latest biking adventure was a trip to Sweden in May.

The public is welcome to the Friday presentation.
