Friends, family rally for cancer victim, plan family fun day

AUBURN – K-Fest 2007, a recreational tennis tournament/family fun day, will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 14, at the Edward Little High School Tennis Courts.

K-Fest 2007 was created shortly after learning that long-time YMCA childcare provider Kevin Bellefleur was diagnosed with kidney cancer. He is scheduled to have surgery on Friday, July 27.

A group of Bellefleur’s close friends and relatives gathered soon after to decide what they could do for him. Considering his love of his kids at the YMCA and his love of tennis, it was decided that a recreational tennis tournament/family fun day was the way to go.

Registration for the tennis tournament will begin at 8 a.m. There will be youth and adult divisions of varying levels. There will also be food and family fun and Bellefleur will be there.

Registration fees for the tennis tournament will be $10 for singles and $20 for doubles. There will be food, drink and T-shirts for sale as well as raffles. Donations will also be accepted. All proceeds from the event will help Bellefleur when he is recovering from surgery.
