Fryeburg Academy’s music program will present its annual Candlelight Concerts at 4 and 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Leura-Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center on Bradley Street in Fryeburg. The Candlelight Concert is one of Fryeburg Academy’s oldest traditions, combining holiday music and readings in a seamless program. Nearly 80 students are involved in this year’s performance, bringing together Fryeburg Academy’s chorus, band and chamber music ensembles. Holiday favorites include Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride” and “Hallelujah.” The academy band will feature in Robert W. Smith’s “Celtic Carol,” which is inspired by a traditional Irish holiday celebration. The chorus will perform Buddy Kaye and Jules Loman’s “Christmas Alphabet.” The audience is invited to join the chorus and band in singing “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Joy to the World” and more. Alumni and academy community members are invited to join in the third annual “Hallelujah” chorus sing-along. Admission is free; donations are accepted. Doors open 30 minutes before each performance.
