G. Haskell: It’s all in the packaging

I really identified with the column on shrinking product sizes and quantities by Eileen Adams in the B section on Jan. 7. It was something I wanted to write myself, as I’m guessing many others did. I just never got around to it.

She listed many examples and I want to mention a variation perpetrated by manufacturers. They are packaging two, three, and even four like items in hard plastic wrap, trying to force people to buy much more than they need or want. For instance, if I buy a double pack of a large bottle of liquid hand soap, I’m storing the manufacturers extra product on my shelf on my dime for six months or more. And there are many more examples.

That is no deal and I won’t fall for it. I can find other options.
