Gardiner man pleads guilty to pharmacy robberies

BANGOR (AP) — A Gardiner man has pleaded guilty to robbing pharmacy stores in Augusta and Gardiner earlier this year.

The Kennebec Journal reported ( ) 22-year-old Rudger Ellis entered the plea Wednesday.

Ellis had pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned in May.

Authorities said Ellis robbed a Rite Aid pharmacy in Gardiner on Feb. 18. They say he told the pharmacist he wanted all of the 30 milligram oxycodone pills. He was given the pills and fled.

Gardiner police Detective Michael Durham said Ellis was not armed and didn’t threaten the use of a weapon.

Authorities said surveillance video captured Ellis robbing a Rite Aid in Augusta on Feb. 7. They say he told employees he had a firearm.

Ellis’s attorney says they will not object to federal detention.
