AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — A former Maine high school teacher who has been wanted on charges he improperly touched a 16-year-old student has turned himself in to police.
A warrant was issued on April 1 for 41-year-old Matthew B. Dineen, a teacher at Gardiner High School.
The Kennebec Journal says Dineen turned himself in at about 5 p.m. Sunday.
Gardiner Police Sgt. Todd Pilsbury says Dineen had been out of state with undisclosed medical issues.
Dineen was released after he posted $1,500 bail.
Police say Dineen inappropriately touched a female student three times between Oct. 1, 2009, and Feb. 28, 2010. He has since resigned his job.
Dineen is due in court in June.
