Gay Norris Coffman
1934 – 2010
LEWISTON — Gay Norris Coffman of Auburn passed away Friday, March 5, at Marshwood Center.
She was born in Livermore Falls, Jan. 26, 1934, the daughter of March and Flora (Pulsifer) Norris. She grew up in Poland and Buckfield, graduating from Buckfield High School in 1952. She then graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington in 1970, with a degree in education.
She taught schools in SAD 17 and SAD 39. She moved to Waterville in 1982, where she was employed at Stearn’s Department Store. She then worked for MGA in Waterville and Farmington as an insurance adjuster.
She moved to Auburn in 1997, where she worked for SCORE. She then worked as a secretary at Community Clinical Services Psychiatry for the Sisters of Charity Health System, until her retirement in May 2009.
She is survived by her brother, Brian Norris of Skowhegan; her children with Gene Coffman, Amy Audet and her husband, Larry, of Turner, Neil Coffman and his wife, Edith, of Great Falls, Mont., and Eric Coffman and his wife, Tammie, of Corinna; four grandchildren, Nathan, Bryce, Travis and Bethany; five great-grandchildren, Mikaylah, Ethan, Caiden, Carlie and Cara; a nephew, Brent Norris Jr. and his children; and a niece, Cathie Norris and her children, Corey and Jessica Maillette.
She was predeceased by her parents; and one brother, Brent M. Norris Sr.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Marshwood Center and Androscoggin Hospice. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
