SOUTH PARIS — George D. Fellows Sr., 72, of South Paris, died unexpectedly on Friday, Oct. 17, at his home.

George was born Oct. 30, 1941, in Waynesboro, Pa. He was the son of Alta and Edwin Fellows Sr. of High Field, Md. He was one of 11 children.

George worked at Waynesboro Shoe, where he met Judy Stoops; they were married on Oct. 13, 1962. They had four children while living in Pennsylvania and then, in 1969, moved to Maine and had four more children.

He worked at DeCoster Egg Farm driving trucks; he was one of Bancroft Construction’s first employees, operating heavy machinery. Later, he operated tower cranes for Cianbro, until his retirement.

In his spare time, George was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved boating, camping and family barbecues.

On Jan. 7, 2013, George unexpectedly lost his wife, Judy, after 50 years of marriage.

George is survived by his eight children, Bonnie Knightly and husband, Brian, of South Paris, Diana Jones and husband, Richard, of Mexico, Carla Ring and husband, Scott, of Otisfield, Tiffany Fellows and fiancé, Gary Richardson, of Otisfield, Jameely Fellows of Lewiston, George D. Fellows Jr. and fianceé, Nicole Goodwin, of Harrison, Alicia Cushman and husband, Steve, of South Paris and Travis Fellows and wife, Angela, of Harrison. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, Cassandra Bonney, Derek Bonney Jr., Lindsey Matthews, Scott Ring Jr., Heather Mills, Megan Jones, Kelsey Libby, Brandi Peterson, Delcia Cushman, Stephanie Cushman, Kayleen Fellows, Taylor Phillips, Paige Fellows, Shane Fellows, Keara Fellows and Bella Knightly; and four great-grandchildren, Emilia Ring, Peyton and Paisley Mills and Adilyn Henry. George is also survived by his brother, Edwin Fellows, and his wife, Sheryl, of South Paris; four sisters, Joyce, Jane, Mary and Pearl; and a sister-in-law, Sandy Curfman, and her husband, John, of Waynesboro, Pa.
