George H. Seamans


BOCA RATON, Fla. – George Hinckley Seamans, 82, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 30, in Boca Raton, Fla., after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on May 14, 1923.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he saw action in the South Pacific and served again in the Korean War.

He was born in Presque Isle, and grew up in Houlton. After his stints in the service, he graduated from the Northern New England Conservatory of Music and earned a master’s degree from Boston University.

He will be long remembered for his love of music. He served as music director at Edward Little High School in Auburn, Naugatuck High School in Naugatuck, Conn., and co-founded the Waterbury Youth Symphony in Waterbury, Conn. He most recently served as woodwind coach at Santaluces High School in Boynton Beach, Fla.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marcia, of Boynton Beach, Fla.; a sister, Celia Robichaud of Bangor; three sons, George Seamans III of Portland, Chris Seamans of Steilacoom, Wash., and Michael Seamans of Denver, Colo.; two grandchildren, Drue and Mathew Seamans; and several nieces and nephews.
