LEWISTON — Gerard C. Pratt, 89, of Lewiston, died peacefully Saturday, Feb. 18, at Russell Park Rehabilitation and Living Center, surrounded by his three children.
He was born in Waterville, P.Q., Canada, one of 10 children of Philippe and Emilia Therrien Pratt. He received his education in Lewiston schools, graduating from Lewiston High School in 1942.
Upon returning from a brief period of military service in the U.S. Army, he married the love of his life, Monique Maheu, at St. Louis Church in Auburn on June 29, 1946. Together they made their home in Auburn, in Florida from 1980 to 1990, returning to live in Lisbon.
Mr. Pratt was employed for many years as a finish carpenter and a construction supervisor for local contractors. He also worked in Orlando, Fla., for the Rosie O’Grady Enterprises as a finish carpenter. He enjoyed playing cards and remodeling different homes.
He is survived by his wife, Monique; daughter, Monita and husband, Paul Ducharme, of Winthrop; daughter, Monette and husband, Richard Valcourt; a son, Andrew and wife, Rachel, of Auburn; grandchildren, Scott and wife, Michelle Valcourt, of Berwick, Tanya Ducharme of Winthrop, Tina and husband, Scott Dennehy, of Brentwood, N.H., Michael and Stephanie Pratt of Turner and Deidre Pratt of Falmouth; great-grandchildren, Gregory and Elizabth Valcourt, Kaitlyn, Jocelyn and Brayden Dennehy and Ava, Thomas and Claire Pratt; stepgrandchildren, Jason Chapman and companion, Danielle and their daughter, Halina of Scarborough and Nathan Chapman of South Portland, and Matthew Chapman and wife, Cassie, of Alexandria, Va.; three sisters, Annette Hamann, MarieAnge Roy and Lorraine Roy; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Roland, Roger and Bertrand Pratt; and sisters, Jeannine Ayotte, Therese Pratt and Rita Galipeau.
