The gift of giving

On Monday, December 18, Mrs. Kathleen Littlefield and her seventh grade homeroom students at Philip W. Sugg Middle School in Lisbon had the awesome opportunity to deliver reindeer food to all kindergarten students at Lisbon Community School. Along with the special delivery of nourishment for reindeer, the ambitious seventh graders performed a narration of The Polar Express, the uplifting story about believing in the magic of Christmas and Santa.

Main characters were played by Benjamin Randall, Santa #1; Joseph Williams, Santa #2; Domino Davis, Conductor; Alexa Harmon, Mother: Christopher Vogel, Father; and Michael Pfusch, page turner.

The excited kindergarteners all agreed they do believe in Santa. It was a fun experience for Mrs. Littlefield and her class. The experience was exactly what the PWS students had hoped it would be for them. This year, in lieu of a classroom party or exchanging gifts with each other, the students wanted to work on the true meaning of the holidays by experiencing the feeling of giving. “This is better than any classroom party,” shared one of Mrs. Littlefield’s students.

After the presentation kindergarten students returned to their classrooms where they found a specially wrapped box on their desk which contained a big silver bell because they all “believed” in Santa. Mrs. Littlefield had a number of parent Volunteers who assisted with this wonderful gift of giving. Hopefully, Mrs. Littlefield and her class will be about to do this again next year!
