1937 – 2014
GREENE — Gilberte Yvette Blais, 77, of Ledge View Road in Greene, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Friday, Oct. 24, with her loving husband at her side.
She was born in St. Martin, Canada, on July 16, 1937, a daughter of the late Emile and Fernande (Poulin) Poulin.
Gilberte married the love of her life, Marcel Blais, on July 26, 1958. She worked in the Lewiston mills sewing handbags and shoes. She was a very active member of Auburn Baptist Church and loved her church family.
She enjoyed knitting, ceramics, baking, flowers, playing cards with her husband, Marcel, and friends. Her family was very important to her and she loved family gatherings, where she was known for her amazing desserts.
She leaves her husband of 56 years, Marcel Blais, of Greene; her three children, Alain Blais and his wife, Corinne, of Monmouth, Mario Blais and his wife, Candy, of Greene and Joanne Audet and her husband, Steve, of Mechanic Falls; six grandchildren, Ricky, Crystal, Shawn, Amy, Sarah and Zachary; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Micheline Madore and her husband, Nelson, of Sabattus; seven brothers, Guy Poulin and his wife, Murielle, of Quebec, Gaetan Poulin and his wife, Murielle, of Quebec, Marc Poulin and his wife, Madeline, of Lewiston, Jean-Luc Poulin and his wife, Patricia, of Sabattus, Paul Poulin and his wife, Gerry, of Auburn, Claude Poulin and his wife, Claudette, of Lewiston and Marcel Poulin and his wife, Denise, of Lewiston; a sister-in-law, Gloria Poulin, of Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Genevieve Blais; and a brother, Jacques Poulin.
