BETHEL — Kayla Merrill fired a perfect game Friday to lead Telstar to a 12-0 victory over Livermore Falls in an MVC softball game.
Merrill struck out 10 batters and added a pair of singles and an RBI at the plate.
The Rebels (1-0) scored all the runs Merrill needed with five runs in the first inning. After a pair of walks, three RBI singles ignited the uprising.
Hannah Morin led the offense with three hits, while Katie Sumner and Sam Largess joined Merrill in the two-hit club.
Lyndsay Merrill and T.J. Cowin both had doubles.
Kaitlyn Townsend allowed 12 hits and struck out two for the Andies (2-1).
Cony 15, Lewiston 3
AUGUSTA — Cony pounded out 18 hits to roll to a 15-3 victory over Lewiston.
Leading 2-1, Cony (4-1) scored five runs in the third and fourth innings to take control. Susie Deeves had four hits, while Liz Barker and Amy Jones had three each. Jones hit the game-ending home run in the sixth inning.
The Blue Devils (0-5) scored twice in the fourth when Kourtney Bartlett doubled and scored on McKenzie Sullivan’s RBI single. Sullivan eventually came around and scored on a wild pitch.
Cape Elizabeth 3
CAPE ELIZABETH — Kassie Wilson’s two-run double in the second inning allowed Gray-New Gloucester to break the game open en route to an 8-3 victory over Cape Elizabeth.
After Cape took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Patriots (3-0) responded with two runs in the first and three more in the second to open a 5-1 advantage.
Nataalie Tombarelli and Maggie Chaplin both hit triples for Gray-NG, while Abby Ryan chipped in with a double.
Laura Getchell fired a three-hitter and struck out nine batters.
Dirigo 10, Carrabec 2
NORTH ANSON — Trailing by two runs after three innings, Dirigo scored 10 unanswered runs, including a devastating seven-run explosion in the sixth inning to pull away for a 10-2 victory over Carrabec.
The decisive sixth inning featured four hits and several walks and errors against two pitchers, including starter Lacey Fenalson, who returned to the mound after leaving in the fourth inning.
Paige Murphy led the Cougars (2-0) with three hits, including a double and triple. Katrina Pulk chipped in with two singles and a double, while Morgan Hutchins and Alyssa Charity added two hits apiece.
Myranda Knight hit a triple in the first-inning, when the Cobras (1-2) scored both runs.
Alyssa Wade had six strikeouts for the win.
Mountain Valley 10, Jay 8
JAY — Mountain Valley rallied from a two-run deficit when it erupted with four runs in the decisive seventh inning to defeat Jay 10-8 in a softball game Friday afternoon.
The Tigers (1-1) were leading 8-6 when the Falcons (1-0) opened up on Jay in the seventh. Mountain Valley pitcher Shelby Moore had five strikeouts and belted a three-run homer in the third inning. Catcher Hannah Lapointe smacked a double and a solo homer.
For Jay, Netta Shank had two hits. Mountain Valley had eight hits to Jay’s five, and both teams each made an error.
Lisbon 6, Monmouth 5
LISBON — Amber Cloutier singled in the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning as Lisbon nosed out Monmouth 6-5 in softball action Friday afternoon.
The Mustangs (1-1) jumped out first with a Kelsi Hilton bases-loaded triple in the top of the third.
The Greyhounds (3-0) responded in the bottom of the frame by loading the bases on two walks and an Ashley Beaulieu single. Shauna Riordan singled in a pair of runs. Lisbon scored two more in the fourth to take a 4-3 lead on a pair of Monmouth errors and a single by Haley Eck.
Pitcher Reen Khal doubled to start the sixth for the Mustangs, and scored on a Meaghan Bates single to tie the game at 4-4. But, Lisbon scored a pair in the bottom half, and Monmouth could only recover one in the seventh.
Oak Hill 4, MCI 3
PITTSFIELD — Alyssa Rouleau went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI to lead Oak Hill to a 4-3 victory over MCI in KVAC softball action Friday.
The Raiders rapped out 12 hits, with Sarah Albert, Katie Wood and Taylor Fillion each contributing two hits apiece. Lauren Hall picked up the win on the mound with eight Ks and one walk. Katelyn Sousa had a solo home run and Victoria Drake and Whitney Houston had two hits apiece for MCI.
Oxford Hills 22, Morse 5
BATH — Jaidyn Rice smacked a two- and one-run doubles and had single as Oxford Hills (3-1) used a 13-hit attack and walloped Morse 22-5 in a softball game Friday.
The Vikings cruised to a 16-5 lead after just three innings. Winning pitcher Heather Verrier smacked a pair of doubles.
Morse catcher Akjondra Rodrigue hit two singles and teammate Hilary Dube tripled in the Shipbuilders’ eight-hit attack
