Gladys Sproul


BOSTON, Mass. – Gladys “Peggy” Sproul, 77, of South China, passed away on Thursday, April 20, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

She was born in China on June 6, 1928, the daughter of the late Beauford and Ethel (Taylor) Reed.

She was employed as an operator for the China Telephone Co., and was also employed by Key Bank and United Management.

Gladys enjoyed spending time with her family and playing Yahtzee. Her passion was bowling in the Wild Gang league, bowling with her team, the Odd Ones. She began bowling in 1991.

Gladys will be sadly missed by her husband of 58 years, Maynard Sproul; her children, Blaine L. Sproul and his wife, Lorie, of Weeks Mills, Betty L. Lebel and her husband, Normand, of Sabattus, and Brenda M. Wilson and her husband, Jerry, of South China; eight grandchildren, Cecile Daggett, Claudette Frost, Stephanie Lebel, Dennis Lebel, Angela Lebel, Jason Cobb, Melissa Cobb and Stacy Chapman; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Frost, Caleb Frost and Victoria Daggett; her nephew, William Reed; and two grand-dogs, Fred and Barney.

She was predeceased by her parents, Beauford and Ethel Reed, and her brother, Robert W. Reed.
