Sumner: Rabies clinic Jan. 27
SUMNER – The town will host a rabies clinic for dogs and cats from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 27 at the Sumner Fire Station. The cost will be $8.
Dogs may also be licensed that day. A late fee for the license will be charged after Jan. 31.
The town is seeking bids on an old firetruck that can be viewed at Lowe’s Auto Sales. Bids are due Jan. 23.
Interest on unpaid property taxes will be charged starting Feb. 5. Residents are reminded that building permits must be obtained before any construction begins in order to avoid a 10 percent penalty.
Labrador Pond outlet bridge on Russell Road is barricaded to traffic due to its condition. The state has deemed it unsafe.
Fire Chief Bob Stewart said he is looking for volunteer firefighters.
Hartford: Fitness classes beginning
HARTFORD – The Recreation Committee was granted use of the Town Hall to begin fitness classes for the winter at a recent selectmen’s meeting.
Committee member Elizabeth Gravalos said it was agreed that opening the Town Hall for light exercise two days a week would be a great way to provide some activity for residents through the winter.
The sessions will start Jan. 29 and meet at 9 a.m. Mondays and Fridays through March.
The board enthusiastically endorsed the idea.
The new salt and sand shed is nearing completion. Electrical work, and installation of fans and the garage door need to be finished.
Residents are reminded that when plowing driveways, no snow should be left in the street or plowed onto other people’s property.
Also, if a winter storm occurs on Tuesday, trash will be picked up on Wednesday.
There will be a public hearing from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Town Hall to discuss the administration and public facilities section of the Comprehensive Plan.
It was voted to have the annual town meeting at 7 p.m. June 14 and the election June 12.
