WASHINGTON (AP) — Thirteen Russians and three Russian entities were charged Friday with an elaborate plot to interfere in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, federal prosecutors announced Friday.

The indictment, brought by the office of special counsel Robert Mueller, alleges that Russians used bogus social media postings and advertisements fraudulently purchased in the name of Americans to sway political opinion during the race between Republican Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, his Democratic opponent.

The charges are the most direct allegation to date of illegal Russian meddling in the election.

The goal, the indictment says, was to “sow discord in the U.S. political system, including the 2016 presidential election.”

Charges include conspiracy, wire fraud, bank fraud and aggravated identity theft.

The charges arise from Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the election and whether there was improper coordination between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.

Before Friday, four people, including Trump’s former national security adviser and former campaign chairman, had been charged in Mueller’s investigation.

The White House had no immediate response to the indictment.

As I watch this breaking news I’m happy to say, THERE WAS COLLUSION!

    • Gary52

Meddling is not collusion. Check out Webster’s when you have time.

      • FrankE

It’s a non issue, collusion isn’t even a crime. Obstruction is a crime, a serious crime. Meddling is often associated with obstruction.
It really doesn’t matter. Trump is implicated on so many different fronts that his attorneys couldn’t possibly cover all the bases. One way or another, Trump is up the proverbial creek without a paddle…………..

        • America’s Mr. Right

Where is your buddy Alvey on this topic?

    • Gaga Bump

      Wrong. Watch it again.
There is no evidence any American including Donald Trump colluded at all. There is also no evidence the outcome of the election was effected at all. None. After months of searching. Millions spent and all they uncovered was a bunch of investors who make money trolling the internet for profit.

      • FrankE

Gaga, your obviously not very observant. Following the investigation on a daily basis, you will learn of the connections Mueller is making as he works his way up the ladder of deceit. No one knows what has been learned from this investigation, just the fact that former Trump cabinet members have been offered reduced sentences indicates that they supplied some pretty discriminating evidence. Flynn went from facing up to sixty years in prison down to six months. Tell me he didn’t give up some juicy details.
No this won’t be over until Mueller has his final say, at which time if Trump hasn’t resigned by then, he’ll wish he had. Just notice the desperation with every claim of “no collusion”. Those are definitely the cries of a guilty man trying to cover his butt……

        • Gaga Bump

Apparanly you’re not paying as much attention as you pretend.
“…According to the indictment, the Americans did not know that they were communicating with Russians.
…the defendants allegedly staged rallies to support the president-elect, while simultaneously staging rallies to protest his election.
…there is no allegation in this indictment that any American was a knowing participant in this illegal activity.
..There is no allegation in the indictment that the charged conduct altered the outcome of the 2016 election.” – ROD ROSENSTEIN February 16, 2018

Months of searching and they have presented No Evidence that the Russian GOVERNMENT or the Trump Campaign were involved. Only that some private Russian Citizens exercised their free speech to talk about our election and they they allegedly hired some private American citizens (NOT Trump Campaign workers. Not Donald Trump. Not Mike Pence. Not government officials) to conduct alleged political activities. If there were ANY evidence that Trump had direct communications with the Putin or the Russians at all then they would bring those charges not this petty stuff.

It seems like some people are to stupid to understand that this is not the smoking gun that democrats are pretending it is. The Indictment also makes sure to point out that these are just allegations and that all individuals are innocent until proven guilty. Do me a favor and stop spreading misinformation before there is a conviction. As if that’s ever going to happen.

          • FrankE

I gage my guesses on Trumps history of wrong doing. He’s been a con artist his whole life. Read any biography and you will learn of his transactions with Russian mobsters, receiving huge sums of Russian money for apartments not worth half of whats being paid for them. As I mentioned before, collusion isn’t even a crime so that is a non issue. Just given Trumps life history of shady dealings with off shore entities and it only stands to reason that he’s guilty of something. We won’t know for sure until the investigation is complete, which may take years, but rest assured, Trump will be bought down by something he’s done…………

          • America’s Mr. Right

He’s been a con artist his whole life.

FrankE, we all know your feelings about Trump. However, feels don’t and cannot support your claims as outlined above. We all know that, so not sure why people kept up throwing out claims they cannot support and are likely false?

          • FrankE

This has been proven over and over again. My feelings have nothing to do with his history. It’s been documented in several books as well as news articles from the past…………

        • America’s Mr. Right

What Mueller has learned was reflected in his assertion that no American colluded. Period. Plain English.

    • America’s Mr. Right

Yet people are still living in the Collusion Delusion. Since we are on this topic, how long did you serve in the military – 1 year?

  • Walter Bishop

I sit here wondering why Obama wasn’t indicted for openly interfering with the elections and the political process in Israel.

Cruiser Sailor, whose side was the Russians on? Hillary is known for her shady dealings with Russia.

    • FrankE

Obama is no longer in the picture, Hillery is no longer in the picture. You people who can’t get over the fact that Trump is as crooked as a three dollar bill, must rely on non issues because you have NOTHING else to base you faulty complaints on. There was no Special Counsel investigating Barack Obama, nor Hillery Clinton. Why do you suppose that is? The answer is that neither one of them was anywhere close to as corrupt as the Trump administration. If Obama or Hillery were involved with the Mob, involved with money laundering with Russian Oligachy, then maybe an investigation would be warranted. That’s just the tip of the iceberg, Trump and family are eyeball deep in illicit financial activities. For that reason alone Trump should be removed from office…………

      • America’s Mr. Right

Yet their trumped up Russian Collusion Delusion is still front and center. Perhaps, we have an opportunity to put someone in jail for governmental abuses.

    • CruiserSailor

But, but, but what about Hillary? That’s getting very old and overused. Trump is under investigation and Hillary is not.

    • America’s Mr. Right

Good point, but we both know the answer to that question. Trump cannot be controlled by the deep state, so they are out to get him.

  • Gaga Bump

I hope everyone understands that there are people in every large country creating troll accounts, fake news, and clickbait articles. The Russians are just the tip of the iceberg. Wouldn’t be surprised if the NSA and the CIA are doing the same thing all over the world. I’m sure China, Iran, the UK and Israel are also. Americans should know better than to fall for fake news. It’s just not that hard to identify fake news. Do a simple web search before you share this stuff.

    • CruiserSailor

Don’t forget about that 400 pound guy sitting on a bed somewhere.
Speaking of “fake news”, and conspiracy theories, isn’t Trump the biggest believer in the land?

    • America’s Mr. Right

Hey, if someone decides who to vote for based on reading Facebook posts, they have bigger issues to worry about.

  • Marc A. Jalbert

I have said this before but it bares repeating. From the beginning I have felt that Trump’s constant barage of fake news and no collusion statements only fed to me the fact that he is guilty of something to be so anti vocal. Not to mention his constant comments discrediting the people involved in the the investigation.

    • FrankE

      I think it’s called a guilty conscience……….

    • America’s Mr. Right

Feelings, now that the stuff logical arguments are made of!

  • Thomas Knight

We will get to see if the Twitter-in-Chief will be the Pardoner-in-Chief. Our grandchildren can read a different classic called The Pardoner’s Tale than we did.
