NEW GLOUCESTER – April has been declared as “Grange Month” and Sabbathday Lake Grange has invited community members to learn more about its purpose, programs and activities. In addition, members will acknowledge the good works of the “Friends of the Gray Animal Farm” by presenting them with the annual community service award.

An open house and award ceremony will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 28, at the Grange Hall, Sabbathday Road. All members of the community are invited. The event is free and refreshments will be served.

“For 139 years, the Grange has worked to advance the interest of rural Americans by providing a legislative voice for their political concerns and by showing them how to strengthen their neighborhoods through community service,” said Sabbathday Lake Grange Master Steven Haycock. “During Grange Month, we want our community to know that the Grange is a living organization that has a lot to offer it.”

The Grange provides educational programs and activities and a forum to voice political concerns. The Grange is a nonpartisan organization. In addition, the Grange members take part in community service projects.
