CHESTERVILLE – April has been declared “Grange Month,” and Chesterville Grange is inviting the community to learn more about grange programs and activities.

An open house and award ceremony will take place Saturday, April 8, at the Chesterville Grange Hall with a supper at 6 p.m. and the ceremony at 7:15.

An outstanding individual will be presented the “Grange Community Citizen Award.” The event is free.

“For 139 years, the Grange has worked to advance the interest of rural America by providing a legislative voice for their political concerns and by showing them how to strengthen their neighborhoods through community service,” said Chesterville Grange Master James Locke, “During Grange Month, we want our community to know that the Grange is a living organization that has a lot to offer.”

The Grange provides educational programs and activities and a forum to voice political concerns. The Grange is a nonpartisan organization.

In addition, Grange members serve their neighborhoods through community service projects. “Our communities are constantly changing and each of us contribute to that change in some way,” said Locke.
