BETHEL — The Maine State Grange Agricultural Committee is looking for young men and women who are pursuing a career in agriculture or agriculturally related fields at the college level.
One or more applicants from Maine who meet the criteria will be awarded a $500 scholarship in June.
Applicants who are pursuing a career in agriculture or agriculturally related fields include, but are not limited to: forestry, floriculture, farm business management, agriculturally related computer science, poultry science, biotechnology, agricultural marketing, sustainable agriculture, horticulture, entomology, fish and wildlife study, dairy science, pomology, soil and water conservation and sciences, equine science, animal science or agricultural engineering.
Grange or family membership in the Grange is not required. The application deadline is April 30 and the awards will be made on June 1.
The Grange has a long history of promoting agriculture in Maine and they hope to continue that involvement well into the future.
The program is funded by the local Pleasant Valley, Franklin, Bryant Pond, Alder River, Waterford, Lakeside, Norway and Oxford granges and Pomona (county) granges.
