Grange supper


NEW GLOUCESTER – Sabbathday Lake Grange will have its first-of-the-season public smorgasbord supper from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at the hall, Sabbathday Road. The supper will include beans, casseroles, salads and homemade pies.

Members will have a bottle drive during the supper to help send junior and youth members to Grange Leadership for a week.

MS walkers

FALMOUTH – More than 3,000 walkers raised more than $450,000 during the Manpower MS Walk in April. The walk, sponsored by Manpower of Maine, is the Maine chapter’s largest fundraiser of the year. It featured 11 sites where participants walked routes that ranged from three to six miles.

Top individual fundraisers included Kim Couture, Androscoggin, $2,948, and top teams included Ro-Ree-Dee, Androscoggin, $9,060, and Humason/Akers, Androscoggin, $5,215.

The 2008 Manpower MS Walk will take place on Saturday, April 26. The Maine MS Chapter represents an estimated 3,000 people with MS in the state. For more information, visit or or call 1-800-344-4867.

Emergency book

LISBON – The Lisbon fire companies are conducting a fundraising campaign for fire safety and prevention in the communities. Local businesses and residents will be contacted over the next few weeks for sponsorships and ad space in a program that will double as an emergency contact directory.

The programs will be handed out at an all-star celebrity softball event at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Lisbon High School. Tickets are free for all supporters. For more information, call 353-2265.

AUBURN – Maine Greyhound Placement will hold a “meet and greet” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at the Family Pet Center, Center Street.
