The Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund is for children of active duty military personnel killed on duty from 9/11 until the war on terrorism is over and who wish to attend college but are unable to do so.

The American Legion Riders of Post 153 are dedicated in making sure that the children left behind due to war, have a chance at a brighter future. You too can help achieve this goal by joining us at Prospect Hill Golf Course for a day of golf and a chance to win some fabulous prizes. DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Behalf of the Dead River Area Historical Society, I want to thank everyone who participated in, worked on and supported the Walk-A-Thon on May 1. The money raised will be used to paint another section of the museum. Not all the money is in yet, so we don’t have a total.

Our own local Daisy/Brownie Girl Scout Troop walked again this year. I’m sure the Scouts will all agree it was a long walk on a beautiful day. When you look at the museum as it is being painted, “you made that happen and we thank you.” — Mary Henderson, president
