H.S. football roundup: Mountain Valley run over Mattanawcook; Oak Hill falls

LINCOLN — Jacob Blanchard ran for a pair of touchdowns and Mountain Valley scored 32 unanswered points in the second half to pull away from Mattanawcook Academy, 46-14, in a Class D crossover matchup Friday night.

Blanchard scored on touchdown runs of 24 and 71 yards, the latter putting the Falcons (2-2) in front to stay, 22-14. 

Avery Bradeen, Curtis Gauvin and Andrews McDonald added touchdown runs for the Falcons. Ethan Laubauskas also had an 18-yard touchdown pass to Matthew Brown.

Mattanawcook dropped to 2-2.

Oceanside 28, Oak Hill 20

ROCKLAND — Ben Ripley scored from 47 yards out to give Oceanside the lead in the fourth quarter and Michael Norton Jr. added his third touchdown of the game to close out the Mariners’ 28-20 victory over Oak Hill in an inter-class football game Friday night.

After Gavin Rawstron tossed a 13-yard touchdown pass to Austin Pierce to open the scoring for the Raiders (2-2), Norton Jr. gave the Mariners (2-2) a 7-6 lead late in the first quarter. The senior running back then increased his team’s lead on homecoming with a 54-yard run early in the second quarter.

Cruz Poirier ran the Raiders back into the lead by halftime, finishing touchdown runs of 57 and 16 yards. An Oak Hill goal-line stand preserved that 20-14 lead before the intermission.
