PERU – Harold D. Packard Jr., 81, of Packard Road, Peru, died Thursday evening, May 27, at his residence, following a brief illness.
He was born at home in Peru on Sept. 13, 1928, a son of Florence M. (Hilton) and Harold D. Packard Sr.
Harold attended West Peru schools.
He was employed for 22 years with the Oxford Paper Mill.
Harold loved fishing and hunting, picking strawberries at Steven’s and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Marjorie McAllister Packard of Peru; three children, Robert H. Packard and wife, Holly, of Peru, Richard D. Packard of Lewiston, and Gale M. Gabriel and husband, Joe, of Rumford; daughter-in-law Grace Packard; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; a son, Stephen Packard; a brother, Benjamin Packard; and a sister, Dorothy Donahue.
