MILLERS FALLS, Mass. — Harold L. Parent, 90, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 29.
A native of Northampton, Mass., he was the son of Edward and Adeline (Morin) Parent. He was the beloved husband of the late Marion (Aldrich) for nearly 46 years.
A World War II U.S. Navy veteran (1942-1945), Harold attended art college following an honorable discharge and began a four-decade career as a commercial painter. He was an accomplished amateur landscape painter and was once commissioned by a local company to paint a landscape of their business. He was an avid golfer, ten pin bowler, reader of books and periodicals, and a Red Sox fan who enjoyed playing cards and vacationing at Lake Winnipesaukee. He will be remembered for his wry sense of humor and for his generosity.
Harold and Marion endured the untimely passing of one of their twin daughters, Nadine Parent, in 1979.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Patricia Sokolowski of Winthrop, wife of the late Robert Sokolowski, and their children, Diana, Stephanie, and Trishann, Noreen Browning (twin of Nadine) and her husband, Jim, of Millers Falls, Mass. and their children, James, Michelle, Kelly, Tinace, Lee, and Joanna; 20 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Dorothy Kulesza of St. Cloud, Fla., and the late Rita Pryzinski.
