BRIDGTON – Several ski racers from Harrison had strong runs in the Russ Haggett Memorial race last month.
Julie Murphy and Sarah Klein each overcame the challenging, icy conditions to win the silver medal in their age groups. McKinley Murphy was third in her age group for a bronze medal, while Jeffrey Murphy took fourth in his division.
Miranda Murphy came in seventh in her age group.
The race was sponsored by Down East Ski Club and Shawnee Peak and it benefits a scholarship awarded each year to two Lake Region High School seniors.
Haggett, a 2003 inductee to the Ski Maine Hall of Fame, was Pleasant Mountain’s (currently known as Shawnee Peak) most prolific general manager from the 1940s through the ’70s.
