1921 – 2015
MECHANIC FALLS — Harry Grimm, 93, of Mechanic Falls, passed away on Friday, Aug. 7, at his home.
He was born in Hackensack, N.J., on Oct. 24, 1921, the son of Joseph and Katherine Campbell Grimm. He served in the 7th Armored Division of the U.S. Army during World War II and was a tank driver in the Battle of the Bulge. He married Ruth Lehmann on Dec. 20, 1942. He made a career as a heavy equipment operator in the construction field. He was the Hartford Road Commissioner for many years. Harry was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Canton and the Hartford Historical Society. He was an active member of the Hartford Community Church, where he sang in the choir. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed watching football. He was an animal lover and a supporter of the Androscoggin Humane Society.
He is survived by his daughters, Ruth Huber and husband, William, and Frances Gilbert and husband, Yvon; grandchildren, Christine Ciarletta and husband, Robert, Gretchen Huber, Daryl Huber and wife, Courtney, and Anna Gilbert-Duveneck and husband, Matthew; great-grandchildren, Alison Ciarletta, Robert Ciarletta, Adelyn Huber and Estella Huber; and a nephew, Joseph Schwarz and wife, Janice.
He was predeceased by his wife on Dec. 9, 2012.
