FARMINGTON — Hazel H. Smith, 96, of Farmington passed peacefully on Saturday, April 24, at the Sandy River Center for Nursing Care with her family by her side.
She was born, Dec. 11, 1913, in Farmington, a daughter of Lewis and Lydia (Snell) Hovey. She received her education in Farmington and Farmington Falls schools.
She was a homemaker and in her later years worked at GH Bass and Wilton Tanning Co. She enjoyed being with her family, reading, sewing, gardening, feeding and watching the birds, and the outdoors.
She is survived by her son, Lloyd Smith and his wife, Linda, of Farmington; a daughter, Linda Dunham and her husband, Birdell “Sonny,” of Wilton; grandchildren, Jeanette Maher and her husband, Jeff, and Jenine of California, Greg Smith, Matt Smith and his wife, Wendi, of Farmington, Michelle Leavitt and her husband, Arthur, of Jay, Stephani Ellis and her husband, Kyle, of Wilton; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Maurice Hovey of Farmington; many nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Evelyn Swain; a brother, Chester Hovey; a son, Lawrence Smith.
