WATERVILLE — Helen A. Clark, 94, formerly of Auburn, died Friday, April 29, at Evergreen Nursing Home, following a long illness.
She was born in Augusta, June 18, 1916, the daughter of Merle and Mary Susan (Post) Clark. Helen grew up in Vassalboro and the China area. She was a graduate of Erskine Academy in China and the University of Maine in Farmington. Following her education, she became an elementary school teacher, teaching in the communities of Jay, Pittsfield, Bangor and Lewiston, retiring as a third-grade teacher in 1978.
She was a member of First Universalist Church of Auburn and was a member of it’s Women’s Group as well as the Rebekah Lodge. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing and traveling after retirement. Her travels included Europe as well as traveling from China, Maine to the country of China.
Surviving are four generations of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Merle and Donald; and one sister, Charlotte.
