Helene B. Gosselin
1925 – 2010
GORHAM — Helene B. Gosselin, 84, of Gorham (formerly of Lewiston), died on May 7.
She was born Nov. 12, 1925, in Lewiston, the daughter of Claudia (Martin) and Ernest Lavoie. She was the youngest of 15 children. On June 14, 1947, she married Laureat (or Larry, as she liked to call him) Gosselin. Together, at 433 East Ave., they raised seven children, living in Lewiston for 58 years. In 2005 Helene and Larry moved to Gorham, where they spent their final years with their daughter, Jacqueline, and her husband, Gain. Whether she was playing the piano or a game of cards, Helene was always energetic and full of life. She will be remembered for her immeasurable strength, her incredible cooking and for the warm hugs she always gave to welcome friends and family home. Helene’s Catholic faith guided her throughout life and will too, in death.
She is survived by her six sons, Daniel and wife, Ann, of Gorham, Norman and wife, Terry Lee, of Concord, Vt., Paul and wife, Stella, of Lewiston, Richard Gosselin and fiancée, Carrie Herbeck, of Bonita Springs, Fla., Eugene and wife, Diane, of Summit, N.J., Gerald and wife, Julie, of Mystic, Conn.; and by her only daughter, Jacqueline and husband, Gain Francis, of Gorham. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a brother, Ernest Lavoie of Lewiston; and sister, Dolores Labonte Fredericks of Pennsylvania.
