LEWISTON — Henry S. Chasse, 86 a resident of Lewiston died at his residence following a long illness.
He was born June 20, 1925, in Auburn, a son of Henri and Marie (Martin) Chasse.
He attended Lewiston schools and has lived in the Lewiston-Auburn area all of his life.
He served in the Navy Armed Guard during World War II, serving in the American, Asiatic, Pacific, European, African, Mideast areas. He married the love of his life, Priscilla Beaulieu, June 18, 1949. She passed away on April 23, 2003. He was employed by New England Furniture for 42 years, owned and operated Chasse’s Commercial Cleaning until retiring in 1990. He was American Legion Lewiston Post 22 Commander for six years, Androscoggin County Council Commander for one year and 2nd District Commander for one year. His greatest pleasure was his four granddaughters.
He is survived by his daughter, Diane Tardif and her husband, Edward, of Sabattus; his son, Daniel Chasse and his wife, Nancy, of Lewiston; four granddaughters, Vicki Holland and husband, Lee, of Acton, Mass., Laura Tardif and companion, Jonathan Ruppart, of Somerville, Mass., Karen Hughes and her husband, Steven, of Lewiston and Kimberly Chasse and Christopher Corcoran, of Sandwich, Mass.; four great-grandchildren, Hunter, Hailey, Haydin Hughes of Lewiston and Elise Holland of Acton, Mass.; one sister, Jeannine Michaud and husband, Maurice, of Ocean Springs, Miss.; one brother, Julien Chasse of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by wife; parents; brothers, Richard, Normand and Claude; and two sisters, Anita Corriveau and Rosemarie Schmitt.
