FARMINGTON — Bangor had no answer for Mt. Blue’s Gabby Foy in a Thursday night KVAC girls’ basketball showdown.
Foy buried six 3-pointers and a game-high 24 points in the Cougars’ 49-42 victory over the Rams.
Both teams are 6-3.
The teams were tied at 21 before Foy’s three trifectas fueled an 18-9 gain in the third quarter.
Amy Hilton also hit a pair of 3s for Mt. Blue and notched nine points. Makenzie Conlogue chipped in eight.
Cordelia Stewart and Mary Butler topped the Rams with 12 points apiece. Denae Johnson added nine.
St. Dom’s 51, Hall-Dale 42
FARMINGDALE — St. Dom’s shut out Hall-Dale in overtime and prevailed 51-42 in an MVC girls’ basketball battle Thursday.
The Saints (6-2) also rallied from a 40-30 deficit in the final four minutes of regulation. Hall-Dale (3-6) missed two free throws with five seconds remaining and allowing St. Dom’s to force the extra session.
In overtime, all nine points came from the free-throw line. Kelly Pomerleau was 6-for-8 in the period and finished with 30 points, including 17 from the stripe.
Alexis Dwinelle scored six of the Saints’ 12 points in the fourth quarter. She wound up with 14. Natasha Brown scored 12 of her team-high 16 in the first half for the Bulldogs.
Buckfield 42, Hebron 27
HEBRON — Buckfield held Hebron to three points in the first quarter Thursday, setting the tone for a 42-27 girls’ basketball victory.
Mishell Mazon led Class D Buckfield (3-7) with 16 points. Dakota Warren added 10 and Naudia Wesley notched eight for the Bucks, who put the game away with a 12-6 run in the final period.
Liv Brown led all scorers with 18 points for Class C Hebron (2-4).
Mt. Abram 57, Madison 55
SALEM — Mt. Abram gave away a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter Thursday night, but the Roadrunners regained it late and held on for a 57-55 MVC boys’ basketball victory over Madison.
Amos Withee hit a 3-pointer at the third-period buzzer to put Mt. Abram (4-5) in front before Madison (3-6) rallied. It was one of many momentum swings in a game that saw the Bulldogs lead 24-18 at the end of one quarter and 31-29 at the half.
Ian James poured in 28 points to pace the Roadrunners. Austin Kane had 19 points and Dylan Price produced 16 for the Bulldogs.
Spruce Mountain 54, Monmouth 40
JAY — Spruce Mountain sprinted to a 16-point lead at the end of the first quarter Thursday night and coasted to a 54-40 MVC boys’ basketball win over Monmouth.
Tyler Kachnovich led the balanced attack with 12 points for the Phoenix (6-4). Deonte Ring racked up nine points and Peter Theriault turned in eight.
Marcques Houston led the Mustangs (4-5) with 12 points. Monmouth fell behind 20-4 after eight minutes and still trailed 28-16 at the half.
Bangor 71, Mt. Blue 28
BANGOR — Bangor held Mt. Blue to three points in the first quarter Thursday night and raced to a 71-28 KVAC boys’ basketball win.
Conner Adams led the Rams (6-3) with 19 points. Alex Campbell contributed 14, including three 3-pointers. Bangor led 35-11 at the half.
Drew Parsons paced the Cougars (0-8) with 11 points.
