High school roundup: Poland finishes regular-season with school-record 6 wins


POLAND — Brittina Maheux scored a game-high 15 points, including two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, to propel Poland to a 58-49 overtime victory over Fryeburg in their WMC girls’ basketball season finale Friday.

The Knights (6-12) were leading when Sarah Welch deposited a 3-point basket at the regulation buzzer to send the game into overtime for the Raiders (5-13).

Poland came out and scored the first eight points in overtime. Senior captain guard Katrina Seeley made a lay-up and two free throws in the frame.

Michaella Arsenault scored 13 points and hauled down an impresive 16 rebounds, while Emily Bolduc made off with six steals and hit four treys for Poland in the winning effort.

Lake Region 35, Gray-NG 26

NAPLES — Junior forward Kelsey Winslow tossed a game-high 10 points to go along with nine rebounds as Lake Region sailed to a 35-26 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in WMC girls’ basketball action Friday.

Tiana-Jo Carter hauled down a game-leading 11 rebounds for the Lakers (16-2), while Sydney Hancock chipped in with nine points.

Senior guard Maggie Chaplin provided three field goals and two free throws to lead the Patriots (9-9) with nine points in the losing effort.
