Hilda F. Tanguay


1931 – 2014

LEWISTON — Hilda F. Tanguay 83, of Riverside Drive in Auburn, died Sunday, Nov. 30, at d’Youville Pavilion, with her loving daughters at her side.

She was born in Van Buren on Aug. 10, 1931, a daughter of the late Ben and Alia (Lebel) Bell. Hilda married Antonio G. Tanguay on Nov. 12, 1952; he predeceased her in April 1999.

Hilda was a member of St. Louis Church and Sacred Heart Church. She was a very religious person and would pray the rosary and watch daily Masses on TV. She also was a member of the Sabattus Seniors.

Hilda lived in Clearwater, Fla., for 19 years with her husband, Tony, and together, they traveled the world, visiting a new country every year. She loved playing games, especially Skip Bo and Scrabble. She also enjoyed making puzzles and crossword puzzles. She was the most caring and loving person, and will be missed by her loving family and friends.

She leaves her two daughters, Suzanne Reaves of Auburn and Debra Rudel and her husband, Scott, of Poland; two grandsons, Tony Reaves and wife, Patti, and Joseph Reaves and wife, Lilette; a great-granddaughter, Felicity; two sisters, Theresa Bryant of Lewiston and Lucille Lafrance of Lewiston; and five brothers, Kenneth Bell of Mechanic Falls, Reno Bell of Lewiston, Herbert Bell of New Hampshire, Normand Bell of Wales and Donald Bell of Texas.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Anette Clairmont and Thelma Lapoint; and three brothers, Gilbert, Fern and Benoit Bell.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and aides, especially Dr. Pandey, who helped make her more comfortable during her last days at St. Mary’s and d’Youville.
