Historic raid will be ‘food for thought’


LEWISTON — The Senior College “Food for Thought” luncheon program series at USM/Lewiston-Auburn on Friday, April 9, will feature a presentation by Charles Plummer. He will present “Remembering the Doolittle Raid and Lt. William Farrow.”

The historic bombing raid on Tokyo early in World War II was launched from the USS Hornet, and Farrow was one of the aircraft pilots. The story of the raid and of the the written record by Farrow will be told by Plummer, accompanied by overhead transparencies.

Plummer is a longtime Senior College instructor and a member of the board of directors. He is a retired educator and school administrator.

The Senior College, now in its 11th year, presents the monthly noon program in the Function Room 170 at USM LAC. The cost, which includes lunch, is $7 with advance reservation or $8 at the door, opening at 11:30 a.m. Reservations must be made no later than noon Thursday, April 8, by phone at 753-6510.
