RUMFORD — The Rumford Historical Society will host its annual meeting of the members at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May19, at the Auditorium of the Rumford Municipal Building on Congress Street.
All members are urged to attend and cast their votes for next year’s officers, and make their recommendations for program topics for the 2010-11 year, starting in September.
The speaker for the evening will be former University of Maine professor Richard Hale of Bethel. His topic will be “The Count Rumford Story.”
In addition, members are asked to bring any suitable yard sale items for the historical society’s annual fundraising yard sale, to be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at the Lufkin School in Rumford Center. The rain date for the sale is June 12.
Those who are unable to bring sale items should contact Bill Weston at 364-4007 to arrange for pick-up or storage at his barn. Those who are able to contribute food items for the food sale table may contact Mary Greaney at 364-7485.
