Historical society looking for artists

WATERFORD – The Waterford Historical Society took over ownership/custody of the old town house after the town administration moved into the newly built municipal building on Valley Road in 1997.

The old town house, located on the shore of Keoka Lake, is 164 years old this year. So far this year, the building has been painted, cleaned, repairs made and landscaping improved.

To celebrate 10 years of caring for the historic landmark, the Waterford Historical Society will hold an open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 29, with an art show. Artists with a connection to Waterford or artists who have painted Waterford scenes are invited to participate. No photography will be displayed.

It is a nonjuried show to celebrate the artists and the beauty of the town. Interested artists should contact the society at PO Box 201, Waterford, ME 04088; attend the society’s meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at the Wilkins House at the bottom of Plummer Hill; or call 583-6174.
