Hockey: Lewiston Demons program expands

LEWISTON — Coaches and officials wish to thank all Lewiston Middle School Blue Demons players, coaches and families for their participation and dedication to the team during the 2010-11 season.

The varsity team celebrated hard-fought Twin City Cup and SMMSHL Soule Division Championships. In both games, the LMS Demons defeted the St. Dominic Academy Saints. Trophies are on display in the LMS library.

Looking to next year. Lewiston Middle School hockey is growing within the SMMSHL. The program is planning to maintain the two ‘A’ level teams. LMS is adding a girls’ only team and a ‘B’ level team or teams, depending upon numbers.

‘B’ level teams will accept players in grades 5-8 (non-checking format) and 6-8 (checking). Please pass the word. Look for updates on the program’s website, at school and in the Sun Journal.

Joining coach Keith Pomerleau on the staff are Marc Frenette, girls’ coach; Tim Smith and Clint Steele, ‘B’ coaches; and Melissa Field, ‘B’ level administrator.

Lewiston Middle School Hockey will conduct evaluations for all divisions in mid-September.  For more information about the teams, go to
