Honor society brings home awards


PORTLAND — Alpha Phi Xi, the Phi Theta Kappa honor society chapter at Central Maine Community College, won the following awards at the recent New England Regional Conference:

Pinnacle Award, for increasing membership to 215 members; Milestone Award, for increasing activities and events from a three-star to five-star level; and the Leadership Hallmark Award, chosen as one of the top three chapters in New England.

This year marks the first time that the Alpha Phi Xi chapter has reached the five-star level with Phi Theta Kappa. Chapter Treasurer Patty Douglass was elected as the officer-at-large for the region, and chapter member Jill Bouchard, who served as president for the region this year is running for vice president of Division I at the International level.
