RUMFORD — Rumford Surgical Associates, a clinical department of Rumford Hospital, welcomes Dr. Larry Hopperstead, a general and trauma surgeon.
Most recently, he served as chief medical officer at Central Maine Medical Center. He has also served CMMC as medical staff president, medical director of the CMMC Level II Trauma Program and associate medical director of LifeFlight of Maine. Hopperstead was instrumental in the formation of Tri-County Emergency Medical Services and was a founding member of LifeFlight.
He graduated from Dartmouth Medical School and served his surgical residency at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, Hanover, N.H., and Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
In addition to his medical credentials, Hopperstead holds a master of arts in teaching degree from the University of Chicago. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the New England Surgical Society, the Maine and American Medical Associations, the Maine Committee on Trauma and the American College of Physician Executives.
Rumford Surgical Associates serves patients from offices in the Medical Building located across Franklin Street from Rumford Hospital and in the hospital’s operating suites.
