TURNER – Caroline Bochtler drove in the game-winning run to lift Leavitt to a 2-1 victory over Edward Little in a KVAC softball matchup Thursday.
Heidi Swett smacked a single to start the fifth inning for the Hornets (3-3), and then stole second. An error on the Eddies’ first baseman put runners on first and third bases. Amy Chaisson sacrificed to bring in Swett, before Bochtler singled for the go-ahead run.
The Eddies (1-5) tallied their lone run after Kate Dargie singled down the right-field line to bring home the runner.
Fryeburg 6, G-NG 5
FRYEBURG – Hannah Hill earned the pitching win and ended the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh as Fryeburg Academy survived a late scare to eke out a 6-5 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in softball.
Dani Hill had a pair of hits and four RBIs, including a triple in the seventh that scored Cerise Humphrey for the Raiders (3-4).
The Patriots (1-6) took their first lead of the game in the top of the seventh, scoring three runs off a pair of walks and two errors to make it 5-4. Rachel Clemett had two hits and an RBI, and Olivia Ryan was tagged with the loss.
Buckfield 2, Richmond 0
BUCKFIELD – Danielle Labbe drove home the only two runs of the game, giving Buckfield the 2-0 win over Richmond in softball action Thursday.
In the bottom of the fifth, Alyssa Henderson got a base hit. Kayla Jordan than bunted, getting the runners on second and third base before Labbe brought them home. Desiree Brackett had a solid day on the mound for the Bucks (5-0), fanning four batters and giving up no hits.
Madison 6, Georges Valley 3
MADISON – Ashley Marandola tossed a one-hitter as Madison handed Georges Valley its first loss of the season, 6-3 in MVC softball.
Chantelle Osgood hit an RBI single and the Bulldogs (4-1) scored four unearned runs in the bottom of the third inning to break open the game after Georges Valley took a 3-0 lead in the second.
Marandola improved to 3-1 with the victory. Vanessa Frisbe took the loss on the mound for the Buccaneers (4-1).
Monmouth 15, Carrabec 2
MONMOUTH – Alex Gauthier belted out three hits and had four RBIs to lead Monmouth to a 15-2 rout over Carrabec in MVC softball action.
Kayla Chick and Amy Hobson contributed for the mighty Mustangs (3-1) with two hits apiece. Chick also picked up the mound win with four strikeouts and no walks.
The struggling Cobras (0-4) were paced by Erica Taylor with two hits, highlighted by a double. Janna Caswell handled pitching duties and was tagged with the loss.
Wiscasset 13, Jay 10
JAY – Lauren Etter smashed a two-run home run in the fifth inning to lead Wiscasset to a 13-10 victory over Jay in softball action Thursday.
Sarah Pierce and Foxfire Buck contributed for the Redskins (3-3) with two hits apiece. Michelle Miete allowed six hits in seven innings of work to record the win.
The Tigers (2-4) were paced by Desiree Castonguay with two hits and four RBIs, while Emily Bovin added two hits and two RBIs.
Felicia Floyd handled pitching duties and was credited with the loss.
Oak Hill 4, MCI 0
WALES – Becca Roberts hit a triple and had two RBIs to lead Oak Hill to 4-0 win over MCI in a KVAC softball matchup Thursday afternoon.
Magan Blais added a double and an RBI, while Danni Potvin smacked a triple for the Raiders (4-2).
Morse 19, Mountain Valley 4
RUMFORD – Abby Miller tallied a game-high six goals and three assists as Morse toppled Mountain Valley 19-4 Thursday in lacrosse.
The game was close, with Morse leading 7-4.
The Shipbuilders’ (3-3) came out strong during the second half, outscoring Mountain Valley 12-0. Cecilia Kjellman added four goals.
Vanessa Brooks and Tori Haggett added three apiece. Katie Boyce tallied a pair, while Maggie Smith rounded out the scoring.
Brittany Coulombe and Angie Child each netted two goals for the Falcons (0-6).
Camden 12, EL 7
AUBURN – Sarah Doubleday netted four goals to lead Camden Hills to a 12-7 victory over Edward Little in girls’ lacrosse.
Laura Mackinnom found the twine three times for Camden, which won its first game of the season (1-5).
Liv Welch knocked home two goals and added three helpers for the Eddies (1-5).
Britney French and Beth Esponette added a pair of scores each, and JoJo Hughes made 15 saves.
