HS roundup: Castonguay batters Falcons


LIVERMORE FALLS — Derek Castonguay smashed a Grand Slam home run in the sixth inning to lift Livermore Falls to a 12-10 victory over Mountain Valley in a MVC baseball slugfest Monday.

Castonguay led the Andies (11-3) with two home runs and six RBIs, while Willie Broan also smacked a pair of home runs in the second and fifth innings respectively. Andre Uter picked up the mound win after coming in to relieve James McLamb in the fifth.

Cam Kaubris led the Falcons with a three-run homer in the fourth frame, while Derek Volkernick also belted a home run. Izaak Mills was the third of four pitchers for Mountain Valley and was tagged with the loss.

Telstar 11, Madison 1
BETHEL — Ben Field and Kyle Perterson combined to scatter four hits in six innings as Telstar cruised to a 11-1 victory over Madison in MVC baseball action Monday.

The Rebels (7-5) erupted for seven runs in the third inning, ignited by two-run single by Mike Fitzmorris. Field helped his own cause with a pair of hits, while Fitzmorris finished with three hits and two RBIs.

Steven Cusson worked the first three frames for the struggling Bulldogs (1-12) and took the loss.


Edward Little 7, Erskine 4
SOUTH CHINA — Mat Gordon belted an RBI double in the seventh inning to lift Edward Little to a 7-4 victory over Erskine.

Ethan Souders led the Red Eddies (6-7) with three hits and two RBIs, while Gordon and Ryan Arnold each had two hits and two RBIs. Edward Little jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the first frame before Erskine tied things up in the third. 

Oak Hill 2, Gardiner 0
WALES — Tim Levesque struck out 15 and walked one as Oak Hill pulled out a 2-0 victory over Gardiner in more KVAC baseball action Monday. 

Cody Plourde led the Raiders (7-6) with two hits and one RBI, while Brett Turcotte drove in the other run. Josh Prue also contributed with two hits. 

Spencer Allen went the distance for Gardiner (8-5) and was tagged with the loss.

Mt. Abram 9, Carrabec 2
SALEM — Trent Rosenberg ignited a seven-run first frame for Mt. Abram as they raced away to a 9-2 win over Carrabec in another MVC baseball tilt Monday.

Tim Smith led the Roadrunners (9-3) two hits and two RBIs, while Chuck Beede also drove in two runs.

The Cobras (1-11) were led by Danny Lane with two hits and one RBI.

Wiscasset 4, Lisbon 2

WISCASSET — Cody Verrill notched a two-run single in the third to lead Wiscasset to a 4-2 victory over Lisbon in baseball action Monday.

The Greyhounds (11-3) struck first for a pair of runs in the first inning, but rolled goose eggs over the next six frames. Marcus Bubar, Frank Angelico, Scott Eck and Alex Hall had one hit apiece.

Ryan Segovia had two hits, including a double for the Redskins (9-5).

Dirigo 5, Jay 0

DIXFIELD — Dirigo rolled to their fifth consecutive shutout and 29 scoreless innings as the Cougars collected a 5-0 victory over Jay in MVC baseball action Monday.

Eric Bolduc and Arik Fenstermacher provided RBI singles in a three-run first inning for the the Cougars (11-2). Senior second baseman Tyler Gates had the only extra base hit with a run scoring double in the fourth.

Kyle Storer had the only Tiger (5-8) hit.

St. Dom’s 9, Winthrop 0

AUBURN — Alex Parker clubbed a bases-clearing double in the third inning as St. Dom’s cruised to a 9-0 victory over Winthrop in MVC baseball action Monday.

The Saints (11-2) received four consecutive hits from Jimmy Theriault, Kyle Hargreaves and Shane Curtis before Parker plated all three with a double. Two batters later, Kurt Johnson singled in Parker for the final run of the inning.

Theriault fanned eight batters, while Johnson sat another three in relief for the Saints.

The Rambler’s (3-9) starting catcher, Tom Reeve, came on in relief in the second inning. Despite a rough second and third inning, he calmed the Saint’s scoring over the next three frames.

Oxford Hills 17, Morse 7

PARIS — Reliever Cody Hadley doubled twice and went 4-for-4 at the plate and drove in three runs as Oxford Hills battered Morse, 17-7, in a baseball game Monday.

Hadley’s two-run double in the second helped with the Vikings’ seven-run eruption in the second inning. The Vikes had 15 hits and Nate Dubois got the win on the mound.

For Morse, B.J. Ray tripled and catcher Blaine Hunt hammered out a three-run homer in a six-run fourth inning.

Bangor 12, Mt. Blue 2

FARMINGTON — Adam King laced a double and had a pair of hits to lead a hard-charging Bangor offense as the Rams took care of business in a 12-2 victory over Mt. Blue at Hippach Field on Monday.

Kyle Savage also walloped a 2-run home run for the Rams (13-0). Nate Lewis went the distance in the win. Alex Witt and Dylan Vining each had a pair of hits for the Cougars (3-10).


St. Dom’s 15, Gardiner 0

GARDINER — St. Dom’s defense didn’t give an inch and Matt Adams pumped in six goals and earned four assists as the undefeated Saints (10-0) hammered Gardiner, 15-0, in a boys’ lacrosse game Monday.

And the Haefele brothers got into the act, too. Troy Haefele dropped in four goals and collected three assists, while his brother, Trevar, scored three and had four assists.

Tim Day scored a pair of goals and picked up two assists in the lopsided victory for the Saints. St. Dom’s outshot Gardiner, 39-21.
