Hugh Keene will be Auburn Art Club guest speaker

AUBURN — The Auburn Art Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at the Park Avenue Methodist Church. The chairman of the committee for this meeting is Jean Hathorne, who will be assisted by Grace Keene and Dorothy Murray.

Hugh Keene, a well-known member of the community, will be the speaker. He will speak about the value of becoming a member of the local Senior College. It has been said that it has more curative powers than Dr. True’s Elixir or Father John’s Medicine. Keene is an active member and past president of the Board of Directors of the Senior College.

In additon, Keene taught physics at Edward Little High School and was director of dramatics, producing more than 60 plays and musicals. Since retiring, he has taught several courses at Senior College. One course he presented was a combination of physics and literature and how they complimented each other during each major period in history.

All members of the club are encouraged to attend this meeting, weather permitting, and find out what a gem the USM/LA Senior College truly is.
