LEWISTON — Hugh V. Buckley, 73, of Leeds died unexpectedly Saturday, June 18, due to complications from a long illness; he was surrounded by his loving family at Central Maine Medical Center.
Hugh was born June 12 in Boston, Mass., to Robert A. and Frieda Young Buckley and moved to Maine when he was young. He attended Wales schools and was a 1961 graduate of Monmouth Academy. He was a member of Webster Masonic Lodge No. 64, Scottish Rites and Kora Shrine. He was a lifelong member of the Wales Grange No. 40 and the Wales Presbyterian Church.
Hugh married the love of his life, Pamela Pease, on July 20, 1970, in Wales. While growing up he worked on the family farm and was a member of FFA; he continued in the trucking and construction industry from an early age and was encouraging to others. Due to a disability, he retired from Reed & Reed in Woolwich.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela, of Leeds; his children, Stacey Morissette and her husband, Maurice, of Leeds, Robert A. Buckley and his wife, Allison, of Auburn, and Michelle Buckley, of Leeds; five grandchildren, Brandon, Kristen, Sam, Kyle and Konnor; and his sister, Sheryl Gandy, and her husband, Winston, and family, of Monmouth; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and grandparents.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Androscoggin Home Health, especially his nurse, Mary Ann, and the doctors and staff of Central Maine Medical Center’s ER and ICU for their valiant efforts on his behalf.
Hugh had a happy-go-lucky attitude throughout his life, even during his darkest days. Though he left us quite unexpectedly, he would not wish us to mourn our loss, but instead to think of him with fond memories we shared throughout the years.
