CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – The state attorney general’s office is investigating the discovery of skeletal human remains down an embankment off exit 12 south of Interstate 93.

Assistant Attorney General David Ruoff said a man walking on a trail near the highway saw clothing and found the remains around 4 p.m. Friday and contacted police.

Ruoff said he expected investigators to finish excavating the remains and studying the area Saturday afternoon.

Ruoff said the state medical examiner has been to the scene. The victim appears to have been an adult male, but investigators don’t know the identify.

Forensic anthropologist Marcella Sorg, of Augusta, Maine has been asked to assist in the investigation to help determine the cause and manner of death, Ruoff said.

Ruoff said investigators will be checking dental records, among other things, to try to identify the victim.
